Canadian Stone Carving Festival 2023 was held in Place d’Armes, old Montreal. What an amazing location. 36 carvers set out to raise money for the Montreal charity Le Cap over a 20 hour carving period. We raised $10,700 in all with our sculptures and in my case, letter carving.
My chosen phrase this year was Where attention goes energy flows. It was a gentle nod to the theme, Where two rivers meet: – Exploring our roots, culture and what lies beneath the surface. I created the design using a calligraphic pen and then carved the English side at home before heading to Montreal. I worked on the french side at the festival itself.
Thank you to all the people who stopped by for a chat and showed an interest in the carvings we were producing. There was a definite vibe which made the experience all the more exciting and of course a big thank you to all those who purchased our sculptures/letter carving at the Sunday auction. I have a video here that has the wonderful Notre-Dame Basilica bells ringing and the carvers chipping away: Carving Festival Carvers & Bells
Congratulations to the winning bidders – a worthy couple.
