Sculpture / letter carving in the garden …

What a weird and wonderful summer between the wacky thunderstorms, imminent tornado warnings and smog/smoke alerts due to the large number of wildfires – and we are not even half way through July yet …

As I sit here in my little oasis of a back garden in this gorgeous 25C day,  all of that chaos seems a distant memory.  The flowers are blooming, happy its not so hot and as I look around I see sculptures and letter carvings that have personal meaning to me…some are references to loved ones and some are just whistful but they all go towards making the garden another space, unique to me and my family.

Garden pieces can be small, they don’t have to be grand gestures. Just something that makes you smile, makes you think about someone in your life or maybe something you just find beautiful for no other reason than it appeals to you.

I finished this peacock last year on Brazilian slate, but missed being able to take pictures of it in front of my lavender – which as you may have noticed is a bit of a staging ground for a lot of my photos!  Its a tall piece but comes with its own stand and the “eyes” have been accented with Versailles Gold leaf, just to make them pop.  The back side of the slate has been left in its natural riven beautiful state.
